Question:

    Hello,

I hope you may be able to advise a friend of mine who has a seat Ibiza 1.7 diesel. The vehicle has recently suffered an engine failure and requires a replacement short engine. I understand that the two of the bores and pistons are damaged unfortunately only a few of these diesel models were sold in the UK and the cost of parts from Seat makes it beyond economic repair, despite being a relatively new motor in otherwise good condition.

Can you recommend a company or specialist who may be able to help as all attempts at contacting engine re-manufacturers about this model have failed.

    Many Thanks

    John Horton

Answer:

    Dear John,

Further to the problems with the Seat Diesel, sadly because Seat Cars do not have a good resale value, it is more than likely that it will be beyond economical repair, to have the engine overhauled by any engine specialists.

Have you considered a second hand engine, I'm sure it won't be easy to get one but there are a huge number of second hand parts companies about, if you wish I will give you the number and name of an organisation who puts out orders or enquirys for people looking for "reclaimed" parts.

Let me know if you would like it.

    Regards Bill
