Question:
Dear OK,
I have a K reg Orion 1.4 carburetor model at low speeds when turning
left or right a very loud noking noise is sent through the wheel
stations
both cv joints have been checked and are ok. could it be a ball joint or
a suspension bush your advive would be appreciated
Answer:
Dear Kev,
Your problem could well be a Ball Joint or suspension bush, but it's more
likely to
be the bottom steering Universal Joint, it fits at the bottom of the
steering
column and connects to the rack, it's quite common for them to become
worn
and either seize up causing very tight steering, or become loose and
knock.
Find a good small garage and ask them to check it out for you, it
shouldn't
cost
a lot, they'll probably also check the ball joints as well, it will be
worth getting it
checked as it sounds serious enough to fail an MOT, and could put your
life
in
danger. Please don't take a chance get it checked as soon as you can.
Regards Bill
If in any doubt, consult a garage or a specialist centre
