What is checked during an M.O.T.

See a copy of a current M.O.T check list called a VT30 (failure certificate) this is only issued if the vehicle fails it's M.O.T.

But remember.. The M.O.T. Is not an engineers report on the condition of your vehicle... It simply means that certain items have been checked and that - at the time of your M.O.T. And only at that time, they satisfied a minimum standard which is set by the department of transport.

If you buy a used car and they say "it's got a years M.O.T", we advise you to still have an independent engineer check the vehicle over before you buy it.

If in any doubt, consult a garage or a specialist centre
