How often should I service the car?

All cars will have a recommended service schedule and the hand book - if you've got it will itemise it.

However, a tip worth remembering is - the older the car gets the more frequent the service periods should be.

Our advice is:- irrespective of the vehicle manufacturers recommendations, on vehicles with 40 to 50 thousand miles or more on the clock, a Major service should be carried out every 6 to 8000 miles or every Twelve months wich ever comes first.

At around 50,000 miles sometime a little less, most vehicles fitted with"Cam belts" require them to be changed, you will need to get urgent advice as to whether your car comes into that category, Failure to change an old cam belt can if the Belt breaks (and they do all to often) - cause very major damage to many vehicles engines, (it usually causes the Valves to hit the top of the Pistons).

And, an Oil and Filter change should be done every Six months, regular Oil and Filter changes will without doubt prolong the life of your engine.

If in any doubt, consult a garage or a specialist centre
