Brakes squealing

Brake squeal is almost always caused by a build up of dust and heat, it can also be caused by the pads friction material simply being so badly overheated that it's not performing properly.

Squealing brakes can be cured by washing out with a quality brake cleaner, and then the rear of the pads being coated with a thin but positive film of copper slip grease. If the pads have been badly overheated they should be changed, and always when replacing brake pads coat the rear of the pads with copper slip grease, also coat the slides and the retaining pins with copper slip.

If in any doubt, consult a garage or a specialist centre
